I’ve played on a Freddie Gregory ‘Custom’ made mouthpiece Freddie created for me 30 years ago. This PB mouthpiece produces the same sounds and effects as the Gregory, but, with easier effort and a little more brightness. My PB is a 6. I use Vandoren ‘classic’ reeds no: 2 1/2. The consistent ease of production across the range is very satisfying.

I am amazed by two things about the mouthpiece, I honestly have much experience with 3d printed mouthpieces, but I was honestly shocked at how much this mouthpiece can project, while being able to do that you can still control it and play soft when you wish, I am not the greatest alto player yet, but even for someone like me, I felt I had more control across the registers.

I order the Patrick Bartley mouthpiece to use in an acoustic Big Band setting to lead the sax section, afraid that it may sound too bright. To my surprise, this mouthpiece can be mellow, but can also play loud and bright. I usually play a Meyer NY 6, but went for a 6* on the PB for a little more openness. Thank you Syos for another great mouthpiece!!!

It feels bigger required me to adjust my embouchure. The Smoky 6 was better I dropped it and chipped it. Should have stayed with that one. This X Syos 6* is disappointing compared to the Smoky 6. But is cost too much to replace for me right now.

Spielt sich wirklich toll. Etwas heller als das smoky und Obertöne kommen ganz ohne Anstrengung.

prima utilizzavo un meyer 6M, ora con questo modello sempre 6M ho molto più attacco e sicurezza nel mio suono. Inizialmente nel primo periodo suonarlo mi faceva male ai denti inferiori, ma ora è risolto. Super consigliato per chi vuole un suono pieno !!

６＊か７がにすれば良かった。硬めのリードで調整してダメな場合は買い直すかも。音色は素晴らしいと思います。

Je viens de recevoir ce bec Syos signature PB (ouverture 6) que j'attendais avec impatience. Je jouais jusque là avec un bec Meyer 6 small chamber depuis des années. Je me suis fié au test d'écoute pour choisir ce bec au son médium (pas trop brillant ni trop mat) et je n'ai pas eu à le regretter. C'est le bec le plus facile que j'ai jamais joué aussi bien dans les aigus que dans les graves (j'ai toujours eu des difficultés dans les aigus) , à tel point que je vais pourvoir jouer avec des anches plus dure (3 au lieu de 2,5). Comme le dit Patrick Bartley "c'est le prolongement naturel de mon bec Meyer"...

Fantastic Mouthpiece, it really feels good and is easy to play loud and soft.

I ordered the Patrick Bartley mouthpiece and received it a few weeks ago. Overall tone is good, but the reed seal is leaky, the table isn't flat and rails are rough. Overall craftsmanship isn't what I expected. It has been relegated to the box of mediocre purchasing mistakes.

The width of the mouthpiece is wider than an alto reed. Thus it leaks air out the sides as you play. Also the circumference of the mouthpiece is too narrow making it VERY hard to get on to your sax neck

I really need to start playing more with it. After a couple days it seemed a lot more natural to me, but bottom line I need to be playing more. No MP is going to cover me not playing enough. So, sorry I can't say much more about the MP for good or ill at this point. I feel it will be fine. I love my Selmer 5* but wanted to expand my horizons. Blessings.

Après quelques semaines d'acclimatation je dois dire que ce bec est très flexible en ce qui concerne le son. Très fort, complexe et beaucoup de présence sans être trop aigu. Je l'utilise de manière professionnelle et c'est vraiment un avancement comparativement à mon meilleur bec Meyer.

Got this as a possible replacement for my Bamber Jazz alto piece after falling in love with the Chad LB tenor Syos mouthpiece. The differences here were a lot more subtle; a bit more brightness and power in exchange for a little less control and tuning (though I think I might get be able to adjust on those fronts). I don't think this will become my daily driver but I'm happy to use it for more aggressive pop or funk, while sticking to my Bamber for jazz.

Je joue un saxophone alto Selmer M 7 avec un bocal Sa 80. Une anche vandoren 2.5. le son "Bartley" est en approche vif, joyeux, tenace un brin mat, suraigus de ouf, graves faciles. Mon Selmer pétille et je peux jouer des heures sans fatigue. Je peux jouer soft avec un son correctement rempli, ou bien hard jusqu'à retrouver le son du métal mais sans harmoniques désagréables. Autant dire que j'ai trouvé un vrai partenaire pour mon m7 et pour moi, un vrai plaisir de le jouer. Merci Syos

Love my SYOS Patrick Bartley mouthpiece. It has tons of power yet easily play soft and warm.

As Patric said above “ It’s super easy to control”, which is absolutely true!
The tone is simple and warm, not flashy.

Was skeptic at first, but now this is the first mouthpiece in 6 years that I like more than my old Meyer. It can do everything my old mpc can do, and I no longer struggle to cut through in a big band. Return policy makes it worth a try at least.
