I purchased a #8 tip opening for my new soprano and I'm very happy with it. The tone is rich and dark, but the response is versatile and it allows me to go brighter if I want to. Great projection and easy to play!

The mouth piece is easy to play. It plays quietly without intonation problems.

J'ai pris une ouverture inférieure (6) à celle de mon OTTO LINK (7) avec des anches American cut en 2.75. c'est vraiment génial par contre j'ai abandonné la ligature de la marque Syos pour une Bambu nova mais c'est juste une question de ressenti personnel pas de produit. Une meilleure facilité de jeu et un meilleur rendu de la anche !🍀

Premetto che sul Tenore utilizzo i vostri bocchini da tempo (ne ho quattro) come prima scelta e le aspettative per questo Smoky erano davvero molto alte. Infatti, cercando sul Soprano un suono scuro e corposo, sono rimasto deluso perché il bocchino non mi ha dato nulla di tutto ciò ma solo scarso controllo, suono piccolo e troppo chiaro. Ve l'ho restituito. Peccato davvero. Un saluto e buon lavoro.

Extremely happy with your smoky mouthpiece , soprano not the easiest sax to master but this mouthpiece is a big step forward.Had to order the tenor one too.

What a pleasant surprise! I ordered an original Smoky soprano sax mouthpiece in a 6, mostly to see how Syos mouthpieces compare to the usual brands )I find my sweet-spot on sax mouthpieces to be from 6 to 7*). Fit and finish are excellent. I was very surprised at how well this piece plays. Went up a reed size from my usual and it plays almost perfectly. Free blowing. Reed friendly. Easy to start and articulate low Bb, B and C, and an easy reach to altissimo — palm keys are clear. No issues with staccato or slurs. So, unless something changes I have some mouthpieces (Link STM, Selmer Super Session, Soprano Planet Open Sky , Yanagisawa metal…) that may be retired to eBay. My only problem is that I followed up and ordered a Steady to see how it compared to the Smoky… and I am struggling to decide which I like better. (Hmm… maybe I should check out a Spark, too). But these feel like keepers to me. Vey nice mouthpieces at a great price point. Certainly worth a try!

Thought I was getting the medium version.
I need more carrying power, and a little more open on the bottom end. I just didn't have the time to spend on it before now.

Bec agréable à jouer. Le son n'est pour moi pas vraiment ce que j'imaginais mais il est quand même plutôt intéressant. Je trouve que par certain aspect on se rapproche un peu des instruments à anches doubles (hautbois, bombarde). J'ai préférer l'échanger pour un Steady. L'avenir me dira si j'ai eu raison.

I love to play with the smokey mouthpiece. It has a nice smooth sound, covers all ranges well and responds very nicely to cool jazz, as well as classical, also with plastic reeds from légère. I shall now also try the steady formate and expand my sound possibilities with that.

Mi piace questo bocchino. Cercavo una alternativa di suono più scuro rispetto al mio Vandoren V16, lo Smoky risponde alla mia esigenza.

Si ça me fait plaisir de faire partie du "club" des saxophonistes soufflant dans des becs Syos, je suis bien conscient de ne pas être au niveau.
En effet, après avoir joué du sax ténor dans ma jeunesse étudiante, j'avais arrêté pris d'autres activités. Et récemment, j'ai eu envie de m'y remettre en m'offrant un sax soprano basique, juste pour voir. Mais ce n'est pas simple le soprano niveau souffle et son, si bien que j'ai cherché un bec moins basique, un peu sans succès. Cela avant de tomber sur Syos, son concept différent et, je l'avoue, sa belle collection d'avis dithyrambiques. J'hésitais et après quelques échanges de mails et même un coup de fil pour demander conseil, je me suis lancé, m'offrant un beau bec jazzy d'une belle couleur kind of blue ;)
Et là, dès le premier essai du petit saxophoniste intermittent que je suis, c'était gagné ! Un beau son, facile à émettre sans saut intempestif dans le registre supérieur. Un super bec, qui donne envie de jouer au saxophoniste rebirth que je suis !

New to the Soprano Sax, I purchased a Smoky with #5 tip opening and the SYOS ligature. Let me say, as compared to the stock mouthpiece of my instrument, it’s a revelation (But of course, I expected nothing else from Syos :)- ). The first register is almost effortless to play with exact intonation, the second one needs some attention with intonation starting with the high B, but that’s also a characteristic of the instrument, I guess. Sound is, as described, more on the mellow side, as far as it gets with the Soprano (that’s what I wanted). I purchased the ligature because I like a similar competitor product made out of (brass) metal for my tenor sax (different mouthpiece), this brass ring ligature did cost, however, about 10 times as much. I have to say, the Syos product is, for me, absolutely equal in performance, just excellent, a real innovation if you look at the price point, and also proof that from a material technology perspective, there is no difference between metal and the Syos plastic compound. I did not experience any of the issues described by other users (slippage of the reed, etc). Thanks also to the prompt customer service of Syos, which I consulted before purchasing the mouthpiece.

Love the sound I can get from my saxophone using this mouthpiece and I love the gentle way it feels against my teeth.

Possédant déjà un bec Syos personnalisé mais relativement puisant et ouvert (8*) et après avoir un peu galérer lors d'un stage d'été sur des morceaux réclamant plus de douceur, je me suis tourné vers ce Smoky, en ouverture 6 pour pouvoir accéder à des registres plus cool (balades, musiques latines). Toujours aussi facile à jouer ce smoky me permet de pouvoir avoir un jeu un plus en douceur et moins timbré, cependant, il est possible de le pousser pour avoir un gros son pour sortir du mix (une bande de soufflants) tout en étant un moins "agressif" (par rapport a puissance de mon autre bec Syos, que je conserve quand il faut vraimeent envoyer). Je reccomande ce bec pour sa facilité d'émission, je le pense idéal pour commencer le soprano.

This piece plays great and meets my goals for a large chamber and the right tip opening for me. I am using it on Yani 991. I don’t like the serial numbers inside the bore. It tore up my neck cork. Also the piece does not look like the picture on the website.

I just love the smoky 6 (soprano).

The 5 is easy to play, but doesn't let me push enough air thru. The 7 makes it hard to keep the embouchure.

All 3 are high quality though. The colors are surprisingly fun.

I use a separate ligature because the Syos ring ligatures weren't holding the reed where I want it.

Zero regrets. Highly recommend for a jazzy or a buttery smooth sound.

The mouthpiece was giving me excellent results it was very easy to play I have several other soprano mouthpieces , however the Syos mouthpiece gave me instant results. I'm going to use again soon I damaged the soprano sax that I normally use , so I will have to try my mouthpiece out on another soprano sax I have.

Not dark and round as I can imagine, but with the usual ease of emission and articulation (as on my Bari Pieces...). So loud instead (n. 6), project very well, with a good colour and timbre, never on the "buzzy" side. Good work this time too, guys! +++++

It's a very good moutpiece.
But its weakness is the ligature. Even if it's useful, it's quite basic.
I also didn't order the cap because I know it and I find it inefficient.

Le bec est très bien.
Mais son point faible et la ligature. Bien que pratique elle est rudimentaire.
C'est volontairement que je n'ai pas commandé le couvre bec que je connais, mais que je trouve inefficace.
