I have a vintage Conn alto sax (New Wonder Series I from 1920) and finding a modern mouthpiece that allows for the horn to play in tune is a challenge. The Syos Smoky has the right large inner chamber and really gets the job done!

J'avoue avoir été dubitatif lors de la présentation du bec Syos à ses début, puis devant la vague d'adhésion de la part de sommités du saxo, j'ai franchi le pas. Quel confort ! Quelle aisance ! Mon Alto a retrouvé du son. Un bémol, somme toute, très personnel, la ligature ! Je préfère du classique métallique avec deux vis de serrage. Ce n'est que mon ressenti sans valeur établie. Bref, vu le nombre de becs de marques bien connues en revente d'occasion sur les sites appropriés, visiblement il y a du nettoyage dans l'air. J'ai un Ténor qui est en "sourdine", il aura son Syos.
Hello, I'm Siddharth and I'm from India. For my saxophone purchases,I use sax.co.uk. I was thinking between a Meyer 5 and Brilhart Ebolin 6 initially, then I saw Saxologic's and Patrick Bartley's video on SYOS Originals comparison ,so I decided to give it a shot. It didn't disappoint at all. Initially you'll feel that your biting so much. For me, that's because I was using a Theo Wanne Water ART 3 which is Tip opening of 1.55mm , The SYOS Smoky 6 was 1.9mm , which was quite a jump. Using Rico Strength 3 reeds, its going well so far. Can't wait to try out more in the future.

Smokey Originals, alto.
Alto is not my main axe, but I do occasionally play it. I was looking for something with a darker sound that could still project, and the “lottery anniversary sale” was the perfect opportunity. This piece is everything SYOS claims. Easy blowing, responsive, warm, dark (on at least my Conn NW1, haven’t tried it on my MkVI) with just the right amount of edge to be heard on a solo over the Big Bands I play in. Intonation is easily controlled. I haven’t tried altissimo yet, so I cannot comment upon that. Thanks SYOS for my now “go to” alto piece. My Meyer 5 has officially retired.

Je suis un blanc bec malgré mes 90ans bête à manger du son mais je me régale avec ce bec
Très facile à jouer, mais j'aurais aimé un son encore un peu plus feutré. D'autre part, les suraigus sont un quart de ton trop haut, du ré au fa#, lorsque l'instrument est bien accordé sur le grave et medium. Ce n'était pas le cas avec mon Selmer S90 170 précédent.

Merci pour votre retour. Les becs très mats sont naturellement plus résistants, notamment dans les aigus, peut-être que cela doit jouer sur votre façon d'articuler et donc sur la justesse. Concernant le timbre du bec, nous avons des modèles signatures vraiment plus proches des becs classiques comme le Sarah Dunbar, qui est aussi mat mais projette moins.

Das mouthpiece spricht in allen lagen perfekt an und hat einen sehr angenehmen vollen , dunkleren aber doch nicht dumpfen sound..verwende auch ein parthenope custom mouthpiece welches im sound deutlich schärfer und mit mehr heller power klingt. beide mouthpieces für mich perfekt .
Hi Guys I am so happy with my mouthpiece it is so easy to play and a lovely warm tone. I have purchased a soprano smoky also now and awaiting its arrival with excitement. But not a fan of mouthpiece cop as the moment I put it on my mouthpiece it cracked. They need to be made better stronger maybe. Regards Beverley Herbert
