This mouthpiece has been one of our best sellers since its release in 2018. It will give you edge and power with a nice amount of brightness.

CHARACTERISTICS

This mouthpiece has a medium step baffle and a small chamber. This is a mouthpiece that is really easy to play, it’s really powerful when you push it but it can also be warm when playing with a more relaxed embouchure. It has a nice brightness to it.

Take the "A" mouthpiece

This mouthpiece, first created in 2018, was a special design for an artist. It has been our best-seller for 3 years, until we discontinued it.

In order to celebrate our new “Iconic” collection, we released this great model again, under the “Take the A mouthpiece” name.

The “Iconic” is a collection of very special mouthpieces, some of them made of very special materials, so we chose to name them after iconics jazz standards.

Take the “A” mouthpiece is a reference to the jazz standard “Take the A train” of course but it also means you will get the “A” player in your hand, the one that excels at its job and will take you even further in your saxophone playing. So we think it's a perfect name for this mouthpiece, which we've had nothing but great feedback from over the years!

Take The "A"

I bought this mouthpiece in Nov 2023 but left it on the shelf until now (Aug 2025). Wow, just wow! Effortless playing, The sound can get a bit bright for some contexts but can be humoured with practice, but there is a full core sound. Well worth it. My Jody Jazz DV, although an amazing piece is now on the shelf.

Good purchase

Since the very first moment I noticed that I had a huge mouthpice!!
That was very esay to play, and spark as I expected.
So I am verry Happy with It, and for sure It will be my first mouthpice in the incoming years.
Congratulations to syos!!

Amazing mouthpiece

Amazing mouthpiece. Responds like metal; feels like ebonite. Capable of so many tonal colours. Great for jazz, funk and pop. Thanks SYOS. You cracked it with this one!

Take the A Train - a superbalanced and flexible piece

I was looking for a mouthpiece that was balanced enough to cut through a loud live setting with synths and electric guitars, while still being able to sound round and mellow whenever needed, despite the relatively high baffle. The Take The A Train delivered exactly that balance and flexibility. Great job, Syos!

Very interesting combination of great sound and great flexibility

Very interesting combination of great sound and great flexibility, as well. Able to play it well in tune, and also able to project my sound better than before .in solo situations. Blends well in ensembles also.

I’m loving my new mouthpiece

I’m loving my new mouthpiece , I have two other metal mouthpieces by reputable manufacturers but this SYOS one works best for me for improved projection and colours in my tone.

Test Tenor Take the A train

This mouthpiece is a lot of fun to play. Immediate response, a nice blend of highs and body with an even sound throughout the registers with great projection.

A great sound

A great sound, but I find it a bit stuffy on middle D.
Unable to get a seal on the table. I am considering a Scott Paddock Tenor mouthpiece

Retour sur le bec take the À mouthpiece

Take the A

Stands the Test of Time

I bought this mouthpiece in January 2021 (it was called something different back then) and was immediately impressed. I like a pretty wide opening and selected the 8*. I was looking for a mouthpice that would work well both for my bigband work, and for my pop / latin band work. This was to replace my Berg Larson steel 110 and Ponzol steel classic 105 mouthpieces. I have used it continuously (and I play almost every day) and find that flexibility and range of volumes I can produce with it are exceptional. I can push it really hard and get a full bright sound that raises above the band for solo work, and it is easy to play at softer levels and blend with the section without losing tonal quality throughout the entire range. I did however have to relearn how to play altissimo which took some getting used to hitting some of them consistently. Anyway, after 5 years of playing I haven't come across a mouthpiece I would be happier with, and it shows no signs of wear. Which makes me one happy customer.

Sound Transformation!!!!

I normally don't write reviews about products but long story short ... This product has transformed my sound and I'M A BEGINNER. This mouthpiece makes it so easy to get a sound out as well as controlled sound. Paired with a synthetic reed , chiefs kiss.

"A"- Mundstück - super!!!

Not as bright as I expected, but nice and fat!

This is a very free-blowing piece. It has a nice even scale and doesn't get too edgy in the palm keys. Subtones pop out very nicely. I'm still getting working on the altissimo (many of my standard fingerings I used on my Barone Hollywood come out a bit flat using this mouthpiece). All in all a great choice.

Take the "A"

Comparing my Ottolink, Syos made the sound a little thinner, but it had more edge and was closer to the tone I liked. What's particularly noteworthy is that I could easily produce subtones down to the lowest notes, expanding the range of musical expression.

Take the A mouthpiece

I had a little trouble at first because I tried to use my Rovenor ligature which doesn't work because the outside of the mouthpiece is too conical. But after purchasing the original ligature I was relieved to find the response fine after all. I'm still getting used to it but am pleased with the results and enjoy the sound.

D
Doug Brown

It produced a thin sound especially in the upper register. I returned it and am waiting for a replacement to try.
