This mouthpiece is manufactured using Laser Metal Fusion, an advanced metal 3D printing technology used in aerospace and high-precision engineering. Fine titanium powder is fused layer by layer with a high-precision laser, allowing us to create internal geometries with an extraordinary level of precision.
This process gives us something extremely important for a mouthpiece: perfect consistency.
The geometry we design is exactly the geometry you play.
Once printed, each mouthpiece is carefully refined and polished to achieve a beautiful silky matte finish that feels smooth, elegant, and extremely comfortable in the mouth. Every piece is then individually laser engraved and inspected.

During testing, one thing kept coming back again and again from the musicians who tried it: The ease of playing.
The mouthpiece responds immediately, speaks easily across the full range of the instrument, and gives the player a lot of control to shape the sound. It’s powerful when you push it. But it stays stable and balanced when you play softly.

Before releasing this mouthpiece, we asked a few musicians to spend time with it. Not just for a quick test, but to really play it.
Two of the first players to try the final version were Ted Nash and James Carter, two saxophonists with very distinct voices and approaches to the instrument.
What surprised us was how naturally the mouthpiece adapted to both of them.
Ted Nash immediately noticed the balance of the sound. Enough edge to project, but still warm and controlled, something that many metal mouthpieces struggle to achieve.
James Carter pushed the mouthpiece in a completely different direction, exploring its power, projection, and the richness of the overtones.

The name In a Sentimetal Mood is our playful tribute to one of the most beautiful jazz pieces ever written, In a Sentimental Mood. While developing this mouthpiece, we often had a certain sound in mind.
A sound inspired by John Coltrane. A sound that combines brilliance with depth. Projection with warmth. Edge with roundness. A sound that stays centered, powerful, and expressive.
This mouthpiece was designed to capture that balance. Bright enough to cut through the band. Warm enough to keep the soul of the instrument.

The titanium mouthpiece offers a different feel in the mouth, more refined and more precise, with a contact and resonance that are unique to the material. It does not change the sound quality: at SYOS, this primarily depends on the mouthpiece’s geometry. On the other hand, titanium brings greater durability, a denser feel, and a more premium look. In short, you keep the SYOS performance with a more high-end playing experience.
The SentiMETAL Mood model sits on the fairly bright side, somewhere around the Chad LB, possibly even close to the Spark.
