Biography
Julio Espinosa is a Mexican saxophonist, educator and musical director from Morelia,
Michoacán. His career blends the language of jazz with contemporary popular music,
developing a versatile musical identity that has led him to participate in academic projects, jazz ensembles and international tours.
He studied jazz and saxophone at the Escuela Superior de Música of INBA in Mexico City,
complementing his education with specialized studies in Big Band and contemporary music. Throughout his career, he has also developed independent jazz projects, ensemble direction and music education initiatives in Mexico and abroad.
Since 2016, he has been a member of the touring band of renowned Mexican singer-
songwriter Marco Antonio Solís, performing in major venues across Latin America and the
United States.
Alongside his performing career, Julio is deeply involved in music education at the
Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, where he leads projects focused on
improvisation, jazz language and contemporary ensemble performance. His teaching
approach integrates technique, creativity and real-world stage experience into the learning process.
As a SYOS artist, Julio looks for a warm, flexible and powerful sound that can naturally adapt
to both jazz expression and large-scale popular music performances.
