Continuing our look back at ten years of Syos, 2022 was a pivotal year.
A new website and new production software
It was a pivotal year because we completely overhauled our website as well as our production software, which kept us busy for nearly six months. But in the end, we were proud of the result!
Arcane reeds, born with Rigotti
We also released our Arcane reeds, developed in collaboration with Rigotti — and launched on my birthday! We even made a video to show you how our reeds are made.
New accessories
We also put a lot of work into developing new accessories, such as reed holders and saxophone caps.
The Syos Originals take off
Our Originals mouthpieces (Smoky, Steady, Spark) for saxophone, released at the end of 2021, really took off in 2022: presented at NAMM 2022, they earned detailed reviews on neffmusic.com in March (tenor and alto), and quickly became our best sellers.
New signature mouthpieces
As usual, we collaborated with new artists, which led to the release of new signature mouthpieces such as those of Jeff Coffin, Max Ionata and Todd Marcus.
Back to NAMM, and a trip to the UK
We returned to the NAMM show — held in June this time — after a year and a half without leaving France. It was really lovely to see everyone there again!
I also went to present Syos at the AB workshop in Bournemouth with Bettersax, which was great fun. While there, I took the chance to host an event at our partner shop in London, sax.co.uk. I'd invited all our London-based artists, and it was truly heartwarming to see them all together and spend time with them: Parthenope, Terry Edwards, Mornington Lockett and Jim Knight.

A visit from Chris Potter
We also had a visit from Chris Potter at the Syos premises!
A night at the Zénith with M
In December, the whole Syos team was invited to a concert by M (Matthieu Chedid), one of France's best-known singers, thanks to our friend and artist Féal Le Rouzic. And after the show, once all the spectators had left, we were invited back into the Zénith to celebrate M's birthday — quite a night!
Supporting Ghetto Classics in Kenya
We also took part in a project that's very close to our hearts, by donating mouthpieces. We've been working with the Ghetto Classics program in Kenya, which provides music education and performance opportunities to young people in the slums of Nairobi. We gave some mouthpieces to Toine Thys, who brought them to the program, giving these young musicians access to the same high-quality equipment that professional musicians use.
