Biography
Jim Knight has been involved in music from the age of 5 when he began piano lessons. He subsequently gave up the piano to play on his bike but handily he'd already started to play the clarinet and saxophone by then... Lots of specialist music education stuff followed (Chethams School of Music, Berklee, Royal Academy of Music) and then the real world.
As a Sax player Jim has been an in demand UK session musician for over 25 years, ranging from massive dance music hits (Mark Knight-Man with the Red Face) to Big Band (Gary Barlow, Michael Buble) to lots (and lots) of pop horn sections.
Here’s a list of artists Jim has either recorded of played live with (or both!) over the years: Leona Lewis, Lulu, Janet Kay, Moloko, The Pogues, Michael Bublé, Kylie Minogue, Westlife, McFly, Will Young, Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Beverly Knight, Luke Evans, Marisha Wallace, Scissor Sisters, Feist, Alfie Templeman, Joan Armatrading, Mr Scruff, ATFC, Nu:Tone, The Herbaliser, Mark Knight & Funkagenda, The Saturdays, Cee Lo Green, The Overtones, Marcus Collins, Charlotte Church, Daniel Powter, Kirsty MacColl.
Jim is also Professor of Commercial Saxophone and Production at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
