Jared Sims performs on all of the saxophones as well as clarinet and flute. He has toured throughout the United States and in Europe, South America, and Asia. Sims has performed/recorded with a diverse array of artists including Rufus Reid, Matt Wilson, Han Bennink, Cecil McBee, Bob Brookmeyer, Oteil Burbridge, Melvin Sparks, Soulive, Temptations, Four Tops, 10,000 Maniacs, Artie Shaw Orchestra, and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. He has headlined venues in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Boston, Washington, Seattle, and Pittsburgh.
He is currently leading three projects—including an instrumental jazz quartet with a 2022 album Against All Odds (Origin), a funk band called Duochrome with a 2022 album Sky View (Vintage League Music), and a “rockadelic” project with a new album coming soon. Music Republic Magazine calls Sims “one of the most exciting saxophonists and band leaders heard in a long time.” He is currently the Director of Jazz Studies at West Virginia University and has experience teaching at University of Rhode Island, University of New Hampshire, and Boston University.
