Biography
French musician living in Paris, his main instruments are tenor saxophone and clarinet. He also plays various flutes and toy instruments such as the music box, toy piano and metalophone. He studied saxophone with Pascal Dupont, Michel Goldberg and Philippe Portejoie. Having graduted from Paris' conservatory, he has since played in many French and European big-bands: Le Gros Cube (Alban Darche), Le Sacre du Tympan (Fred Pallem), Pandemonium (F.Jeanneau) etc …
As a sideman, he has performed with musicians such as Riccardo Del Fra, Michel Portal, Aldo Romano, Kenny Wheeler, Didier Levallet, Joey Baron… From 2002 to 2011, he led the French band Rockingchair. In 2007, they received a « Django d’or » and several other awards for their first album. Their second album, called 1:1, was released in 2010 on the German label Enja. In 2008, he composed, played and recorded the original soundtrack for the French movie "Dernier Maquis" and was awarded the "Best Original Soundtrack Prize" from the International Film Festival in Dubaï. He also wrote music for Arthur Rifflet’s documentaries "Sin maïs no hay païs" and "La grippe du laisser-faire".
He currently plays with Alphabet (a quartet with mixed influences) and Art Sonic (a wind quintet founded with flautist Joce Mienniel). In 2013, he played a concert called "Perpetual Motion – a celebration of Moondog" during the 30th Banlieues Bleues Festival alongside saxophonist Jon Irabagon, the DVD and live album from that concert were released on Jazz Village label in September 2014. He also regularly performs with vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher either as a duo or with the quartet Blind_date.
In 2014 he released "Perpetual Motion - a celebration of Moondog", then in 2015 "Mechanics", the continuation of Alphabet, which was awarded a Victoire du Jazz (the best French jazz award) in 2016.
