I was looking for a soprano sax mouthpiece that would offer a good balance in terms of ease of response (the right amount of resistance and intonation stability, a balanced tone, good volume and projection and quick articulation). Knowing more or less the tip opening that suits me and wanting to first test the ‘naturally achieved quality’ resulting from this brand’s craftsmanship, I chose an original mouthpiece—and the result was astonishing: it is by far the most efficient mouthpiece in every respect that I have ever played on soprano sax. My sincere congratulations on this achievement, which finally allows me to express myself effortlessly on an instrument that is, by nature, quite delicate and demanding.

I do not like plastic mp's. However, this mp gives me the concert band sound I need. It is open and warm; not edgy. A very nice feature is that the overall length is shorter than most other brands, which prevents having to push the mp past the end of the cork on my curved soprano. I don't know if that is by design, but it's a nice feature. The 5 tip opening (1.3mm) is perfect for me to play soft in the bottom register and in tune in the upper register with a 2.25 Legere reed. I'm happy with it but not a big fan of the ligature. It moves my reed when I push it on, and takes too much time to keep readjusting to get the tip of the reed where I need it. I stay 4 stars, but I'm giving a 5 because customer service was good about shipping a replacement after the original got crushed in transit.

I've owned many, many mouthpieces over the years. But until I bought and played the Syos "Steady," I'd never really had one mouthpiece I would recommend for a beginning player and an advanced player too. With its easy playability and even tone, the Steady beautifully bridges the gap.

My second Syos mouthpiece, the first was a Smokey. As with the Smokey, the Steady is a very pleasant surprise. It is difficult to decide between these two, both are keepers. The difference to me is that the Steady seems to give a little more centered, focused tone. Very subtle, but noticeable — difficult to detect when playing, more noticeable listening back to a recording (or through headphones). These are both excellent, reed friendly mouthpieces, free blowing. Tuning is good. I will be keeping (and using) both.

Note 4/5 => comme pour les deux autres achetés précédemment (Alto & Ténor) la finition (polissage) des zones de contact (avec le liège du bocal et avec l'anche) pourrait être améliorée...

Conforme à ce que j’avais entendu dire de SYOS. Facile à jouer, plus facile de jouer piano, et plus facile dans les graves et dans les aigus. Je me régale. Merci à vous.

Agréable à jouer sur tout le registre de l’instrument. Entre le sax ténor et le sax soprano, le passage s’effectue sans aucune difficulté.

Excusez pour l'éventuel doublon, mais ces formulaires se comportent bizarrement. Ce qui n'est pas le cas du Steady, qui lui est "nickel" ! Espérons que la matière du bec tiendra dans le temps...

Tout de suite quand j’ai installé mon bec Steady sur mon saxophone j’ai tout de suite su que c’était le bon. Facilité d’émission dans tout le registre de l’instrument et combiner avec une anche Légère, c’est winner!

In spite it of being a pre-designed mouthpiece it took a very long time to be deliver which uses up your try out period to return it. This was a lesson learned on Syos return policy. The mouthpiece itself have few area I could not understand like a C4 and #C4 drop out on the soprano when playing it and a uncontrollable G note, the Syos ligature that I brought with it would’nt hold the reed well that all. I spent too time trying to make it tight to reed and mouthpiece it seem to be too big for soprano mouthpiece, always way pass the cut line of the any of the reeds I used to the point of been pull off the back of the mouthpiece. I waited so long to try out one maybe I just got a bad one.

I purchased the Steady#7 Soprano mouthpiece hoping that I would have found my dream mouthpiece. I’ve tried cane reeds from #2, 2.5 & 3, I’ve also tried Legere reeds, 1.5,2,&2.5. The mouthpiece is not free blowing for me. I’ve also used different ligatures and have not noticed any changes. My problem is that I can not play the upper register from G to high F# with ease. I’ll keep experimenting with different types of reeds because I just don’t want to toss it into my mouthpiece storage box, it’s starting to get a little frustrating. One other minor problem is that the mouthpiece guards from Syos are very thin and not comfortable at all.
I hope I can find a solution so that I can write a better updated review.

I went for a spec that just doesn’t work for me unfortunately. The mpc is very well made and would probably suit a different player perfectly. By the time I realised I was over the 30 day return limit.

I am a 86 year old retired musician and have not played for a long time.
Last year I decided to take up the soprano again and tried a couple of top
brand mouthpieces but I was not a 100% happy. I came across SYOS 3D
printed mouthpieces on Dan Forshaw YouTube channel and thank's to him
I decided to try the steady with a 7 tip opening, Incredible that is only way I can describe it it is the best mouthpiece I have ever used on a Soprano Sax
The steady gives you a full dark sound but also bright and power when you

need it.

I purchased a curved soprano sax a few weeks ago. I did so with hesitation. I’ve heard all kinds of reason as to why the soprano sax is difficult to play…difficult to play in tune, embouchure is unforgiving. etc

I have to say that with my SYOS Steady Soprano mouthpiece I have not had any of those issues. It played great from the get-go, easily plays in tune throughout the entire range of the saxophone and has a very smooth, lovely tone.

I am very happy with my purchase from SYOS and encourage everyone to try out these mouthpieces.

I had been playing on a Jody Jazz HR* and it was feeling a little too open for my current need, which is jazz fusion. I haven’t compared other models, but Steady feels good - enough power and projection and I can still craft a tone. Don’t know about durability, but given the rate I change mouthpieces, not an issue. And for the price, I can buy 3.

I am using Steady with the Syos ligature and don’t like not being able to adjust the height of the ligature with respect to the reed. That means I lose the ability to control tone that way. A lig with a single screw in the back shouldn’t be hard to print and oh so much better. The vibration response is good though.

Being mainly a tenor sax player I thought it was normal to fight intonation on a soprano sax. Not anymore, now I can play in tune all the way up! Also, I never thought that a plastic made mouthpiece could sound that good . Better learning late than never!
