Marco Scipione

"Syos mouthpieces, with their multiple customization options, give me the freedom to switch from jazz to metal thanks to their extreme flexibility while always maintaining the core of the sound. Syos has also been a wonderful discovery for my Paperclip (contrabass clarinet), which I rely on for bass parts, deep and aggressive sound textures in its more rock and crossover excursions."

Italian saxophonist Marco Scipione is one of the most acclaimed and original saxophonists on the emerging international scene. He began his career at a very young age, building a solid reputation in pop and fusion, where he performed as a session musician, both in studio and live, with some of the most renowned Italian artists: Tommaso Paradiso, Mario Biondi, Federico Malaman. His solid background as a rock and metal bassist drives him to experiment with the voice of his saxophone, modifying and distorting it with effects. Drawing inspiration from Kurt Cobain's distortions, Tom Morello's riffs, and the ethereal soundscapes of Radiohead, Marco has created a unique timbral register, recognized internationally.

This rock spirit of Marco is well expressed in his post-punk hardcore band DANG! DANG! released their self-titled debut album DANG! (Stellare, 2022), which they promoted during Steve Vai's 2022 tour, where they were invited as the official opening act. Between 2022 and 2023, Marco Scipione was the saxophonist and lead soloist in the world tour of Eros Ramazzotti, the most renowned Italian pop artist globally. With this tour, Marco performed 86 concerts in 35 countries. Marco has recently completed the recording sessions for H(ost), his debut as a solo artist. Recorded in New York, it is an album of solo saxophone, without overdubs, loops and dawless.

Marco plays a Syos custom tenor mouthpiece as well as a Syos custom contrabass clarinet mouthpiece.
