The brilliantly perceptive and collaborative Syos acoustician and sonic facilitator who worked with me to accomplish this, was able to understand my verbal descriptions of the sonic qualities I was after through every step of the process, and translate them into the precise math and science necessary to bring that sound into reality. Syos is the incredible combination of a meticulous scientist and an outrageous wizard. The result is the mouthpiece I’ve wanted all my life - responsive, versatile, in tune, with the growl of a blues singer when you want it, warm, harmonically complex, gorgeous sub-tones, with bite when you need it and raging altissimo, all of that in one very fun to play mouthpiece. Amazing! If you love fat, muscular “Texas tenor,” this is a must try.

Syos mouthpieces: beautiful colors with a beautiful and powerful sound!!

​I have been hearing a great deal about Syos mouthpieces. I ordered one and have fallen in love with the possibilities of shaping your own sound. I also like the colors. I play alto & tenor saxophone and clarinet and look forward to add more to my mouthpiece arsenal.  My new alto mouthpiece is bright, and projects beautifully with excellent intonation.

What I immediately loved about my Syos mouthpiece is the richness of the sound even when playing at low volume. On stage I use a lot of effects (pitch, filter, distortion...) and I have to make sure that the direct acoustic sound of my sax is not overly present so that the audience can enjoy the sound amplified and modified by my effects pedals. This mouthpiece makes it a pleasure to play at low levels with energy and precision!

I find that my Syos mouthpiece is the most comfortable one to play on out of everything I have tried out so far. For every mouthpiece there is a compromise to be made; but my Syos one allows me to create a sound that is rich in overtones and all kinds of colors, and is open to multiphonic possibilities while keeping an easy-going and smooth control of intonation throughout the whole register.
