Gregory Sallet - Syos

Gregory Sallet

According to me, SYOS has succeeded to innovate in a market which is said clogged in terms of innovations : they developped good listening capacities coupled with the mastery of modern technology. Moreover, the exchanges I had with the team during my mouthpieces creation process were a privileged moment which is, I think, important for musicians: feeling heard and accompanied in the quest of the perfect gear.

In 2000, Grégory joined the François Raulin's Ensemble Micromégas Brass Band/La FORGE CIR. This band allowed him to play in many concerts with eclectic and prolific musicians from the french jazz scene: Marc Ducret, Louis Sclavis, Michel Portal, Mederic Collignon, Eric Echampard, Bruno Chevillon and Adama Drame (during a trip to Burkina Faso in 2001).

In 2003 happened a big turn in his musical journey: he met with the saxophonist Yves Gerbelot and started studying with him.

In 2006, he entered the Jazz Conservatory in Chambéry, studies arranging with Pierre Drevet and saxophone with Laurent Blumenthal and obtained his DEM Jazz in 2010.

Grégory joined in 2008 the Jeune Peuple Orchestr’Alpes directed by C.MONNIOT . With 12 other joung musicians, they play a repertoire specially written and arranged by Christophe Monniot, and this is for Gregory the occasion to develop his 1st experineces as a young professional musician.

In 2009, he creates with Olivier Jambois le Trio Enchant(i)er (guitar, drums, saxophones). The band focuses on the mix of composition and improvisation, as well as the role of each instrument in a basseless trio.

In 2010, he creates with Romain Baret (guitar) an association who reflects their dynamism, the Collectif Pince-Oreilles. It brings together different bands, mixing twenty musicians from the regional scene.

In 2010 and 2012, he goes to New York to study with Dave Binney, Steve Lehman, Jim Black, Tim Berne and Steve Coleman...

In 2013 he participates to the Banff International Workshop, with pianist Vijay Iyer (and among others Ravi Coltrane, Tyshwan Sorey, Ben Monder, Hafez Modirzadeh, Ambrose Akinmusire...).

He also plays with pianist Anne Quillier 6tet, which wins le Tremplin National Jazz La Défense in 2013, and regularly tours with The Delegation (NYC) and FatsO (Colombie).

His second album "Le mouvement crée la matière" got released in 2017 (Label Pince-Oreilles).
